Time Warner Cable: Southwest Division Texas
Dedicated to Innovation

History
In 1949, entrepreneurs using simple antennas and Army-surplus coaxial cable created the country’s first cable television system and revolutionized the way Americans watched TV. More than fifty years later, Time Warner Cable owns and manages the most advanced cable systems in the US. Serving 10.9 million customers in 27 states, Time Warner Cable offers cutting edge digital technology, the richest range of home entertainment and information choices for the whole family to enjoy and superior service that demonstrates that customer satisfaction is our number one priority.

Technological Leadership
Time Warner Cable has led the way in technological innovation through the use of fiber optics to improve and expand our cable products and services. In 1994, Time Warner Cable became the first cable company to be honored with an Emmy Award by winning the Engineering Award for Outstanding Achievement in Technological Development. This recognized our pioneering work in using fiber optics to transmit broadband signals, a development that helped enable the convergence of the cable television, computer and telephone industries. In 2001, we completed a $5 billion, nationwide system upgrade to create a hybrid fiber coaxial cable network. As a result, we have been able to dramatically enhance the quality of cable’s picture and sound and introduce new, exciting services, including Digital Cable, Video On Demand, High Definition Television (HDTV), High Speed Online access via cable modem and Digital Telephony. All of this adds up to greater convenience, value and choice for our customers.

Commitment to Choice and Quality
Time Warner Cable is also committed to providing customers with an ever-increasing choice of high-quality programming. Our digital upgrade allows us to offer an expanded range of channels — everything from movies and music to news and information. In 2002, the company began a broad commercial deployment of Video On Demand with iCONTROLSM. This exciting new service lets customers order movies and other programming instantly and to control the program with features like rewind, fast-forward, pause and stop. In addition, Time Warner Cable owns and provides customers with exclusive, local, all-news TV channels in New York, North Carolina and Texas that give viewers content targeted to their community interests and concerns. The company plans to launch additional local news channels. We also offer High Speed Online access through our popular Road Runner service, as well as additional choices including AOL Broadband, EarthLink, BigNet, Inter.Net and others. Time Warner Cable is the first cable company in America to offer a choice of Internet providers. These choices deliver Internet access directly to the PC over the existing cable television infrastructure. Time Warner Cable currently has 3.2 million residential High Speed Online customers and is growing rapidly. The company is also offering a Wireless Home Networking service, which will give all computers in a home access to a single high-speed cable modem. Time Warner Cable has also introduced the Digital Video Recorder enabling customers to time shift programs in order to watch what they want, when they want it. Most recently, the company has also begun to offer residential telephone service using state-of-the-art Digital Telephony technology.

Customer Care & Community Focus
Customer satisfaction is at the heart of Time Warner Cable products and services. To solidify that commitment, Time Warner Cable introduced the On-Time Guarantee in 1995, one of the most successful customer service programs in the country. This program has become the cable industry’s national customer service standard. By guaranteeing prompt, reliable service at all times, Time Warner Cable is working hard to remain responsive to the needs of our customers.

Time Warner Cable knows that customer satisfaction means more than reliable service. That’s why connecting with our customers through community outreach and involvement has long been a hallmark of the company. On the national level, Time Warner Cable’s operating divisions work to support important corporate initiatives like Time to Read and PowerUP. And regionally, Time Warner Cable’s strong grassroots network of local cable systems ensures that these national programs and numerous local community initiatives reach many audiences in communities throughout our service areas.

Headquartered in Stamford, CT and Charlotte, NC, Time Warner Cable was formed in 1989 through the merger of Time Inc.’s cable television company, American Television and Communications Corporation, and Warner Cable, a division of Warner Communications. Time Warner Cable is a division of TWX (NYSE).
