Helpful Language Notes
JavaScript - Retitled from LiveScript for marketing reasons
when Netscape began to work with Sun Microsystems. JavaScript
is a commonly used scripting language, that is usually integrated into
an HTML or XHTML web page. This type of document integration
is called client-side scripting. Javascript was
first introduced and
deployed in the Netscape browser 2.0B3 in December of 1995.
JScript - Microsoft's reverse-engineered version of JavaScript.
JScript was first supported in Internet Explorer browser 3.0 released
in August, 1996. When web developers talk about using JavaScript
in the IE
browser, they silently mean JScript in the IE browser.
Java - Is a complete programming language designed by
Sun Microsystems. It is a different language than JavaScript.
Java was kicked off in 1993 and formally introduced in 1995.
